The first 24 bits of a MAC address represent the Organizationally Unique Identifier (OUD), which is a value that is assigned by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). The OUI identifies the NIC’s manufacturer. The last 24 bits of a MAC address uniquely identify a specific NIC constructed by the manufacturer. This value is almost always an identifier that the manufacturer has never before used in combination with the OUI.
Internet Protocol (IP) identities are IP addresses, which are 32-bit decimal addresses that are assigned to OSI Layer 3 interfaces.
